January 26, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
The Domestic Violence Committee
presents a Program:
The Danger Assessment Tool: How to Accurately Assess Lethality Risk for Clients Experiencing Domestic Violence
Speaker: Dr. Jacquelyn Campbell, Ph.D, MSN, RN,
Professor at John Hopkins Nursing School
Dr. Campbell is a nationally renowned scholar and expert on violence against women. In 1985, Dr. Campbell developed the “Danger Assessment,” a graded questionnaire that is among the first tools created to assess a woman’s risk of being killed by an abusive partner. The Assessment also gives the victim/survivor a greater awareness of their situation, a tool to plan their own safety, and a way for providers to give them more personalized help. The tool is now used widely by attorneys, service providers, law enforcement, and others. Attendees can become certified in this method at the end of the training.
