Madison Porzio, has been a Principal Court Artorney with the Westchester County Surrogate’s Court since 2022. She was previously the Principal Law Clerk to the Hon. Nelida Malave-Gonzalez, Surrogate of Bronx County. Prior to joining the court system 5 years ago, she practiced in Surrogate’s Court Litigation and Estate Administration for 6 years, and 3 years prior to that during and after law school. She began her career in Surrogate’s Court practice in 2011 while interning for the Honorable Peter J. Kelly in Queens County Surrogate’s Court. After finishing Law School in 2012, she completed her LL.M. in Taxation with a focus in Estate Planning in 2014, under the mentorship of William P. LaPiana.
Ms. Porzio has been a member of the Queens County Chapter of WBASNY (“QCWBA”) since law school. She joined the QCWBA Board in 2016, serving as a Delegate to WBASNY for two years, and is currently a member of the QCWBA Board of Directors. In 2017 Ms. Porzio started the QCWBA’s Mental Health and Wellness Committee, which served to raise awareness, provide resources and fight the stigma of mental health in the legal community. The Committee hosts events and educational programs for mental health awareness, and has influenced other bar associations in Queens County to do the same. She remains the Chair of the Mental Health and Wellness Committee. She has also served on several other QCWBA Committees and is a proud “Queen of Queens”.
In 2018 Ms. Porzio assisted in starting WBASNY’s Wellness Committee and served as a Co-Chair of same for two years until becoming a WBASNY Officer in 2020. The Committee continues to make resources available for chapters to hold mental health awareness events, has drafted policy letters and statements on behalf of WBASNY, and provides educational programs. Ms. Porzio’s zealous activism in the mental health field continues to be one of her greatest passions and accomplishments. She has served as a WBASNY Officer for four years, as WBASNY Recording Secretary for two years and then as WBASNY Treasurer for two years, and is excited to begin her term as Vice President.
Ms. Porzio grew up in Southern California and moved to New York City in 2009, when she enrolled at New York Law School. She has been a resident of Queens since 2013 and currently resides in Astoria. In addition to her volunteer work and activism with QCWBA, WBASNY and in the mental health field, she is a NYC Marathon finisher and a local gold medal winning powerlifter. She is an avid reader and enjoys visiting her parents in Atlanta.
