Teresa R. Nuccio, looks forward to serving the Women’s Bar Association of New York in this new role in 2024/2025. She has previously served as the Recording Secretary for WBASNY and as Treasurer and First Vice President of her local chapter. She has also served on the boards of other local bar associations. Ms. Nuccio has been a member of WBASNY since 2003. In 2018, Ms. Nuccio received the Women of Distinction award from the Staten Island Chapter of New York State Women, Inc.
Ms. Nuccio’s educational background provides a unique blend of her legal and educational expertise. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Brooklyn Law School and her M.Ed. from Hunter College in General and Special Education, with a focus on concomitant learning and emotional disabilities. Currently, she is a Special Education Impartial Hearing Officer hearing cases arising from due process complaints filed under the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act and the New York State Education Law seeking special education services, tuition reimbursement, and review of disciplinary determinations involving New York City students with special needs.
Previously, Ms. Nuccio was a principal law clerk to a Supreme Court Justice, focusing on Municipal Tort Liability, Guardianship, and Foreclosure. Before entering public service, she was a partner in a personal injury law firm representing clients in New York City, Long Island, and the United States District Courts in New York and New Jersey. She also worked as a special education teacher in a New York City public school.
