Highlights of Presidency:
As I reflect on my term as President of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, I am filled with immense gratitude for the opportunity to serve such a dynamic and dedicated community. Under the theme “Still We Rise: Honoring Our Past, Fortifying Our Future,” we set ambitious goals to honor the legacy of those who came before us while building a stronger, more equitable future for all women in the legal profession. Together, we established a thriving statewide mentoring circle, creating invaluable connections between seasoned practitioners and emerging attorneys, thereby nurturing the next generation of women leaders. We also resumed in-person board meetings for the first time since the pandemic, strengthening our relationships and reinforcing our commitment to collaboration across the state.
Our collective advocacy for the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) in New York has been another significant highlight of our journey. As we mobilized our members and partnered with advocates, lawmakers, and other organizations, our voices amplified in pursuit of gender equality. Our dedication to advancing women’s rights has been unwavering, extending beyond the ERA to address crucial issues like pay equity and reproductive rights. Additionally, by supporting our smaller upstate chapters and engaging directly with aspiring legal professionals, we fortified the bonds within our community and ensured our association’s strength and resilience for years to come. This year, we have truly embodied the spirit of “Still We Rise,” and I am profoundly proud of all that we have achieved together.
