The New York State Education Department is canvassing for Special Education Impartial Hearing Officer candidates to serve the New York City region. An impartial hearing officer presides over a due process case requested by either a parent or school district on matters relating to the identification, evaluation or educational placement of a student with a disability, or the provision of a free appropriate public education to the student as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) has established. Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis. More information and the application are available on the Office of Special Education website.
