New York, NY, Thursday, January 13, 2025 – The Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York (“WBASNY”) is proud to congratulate A.J. Bosman, the President of its Mid-York Chapter, on receiving the 2025 Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Beacon Award from the New York State Bar Association (“NYSBA”). Ms. Bosman will be presented with this esteemed recognition by the Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. This award recognizes “the exceptional efforts of a member of the legal community who demonstrates qualities that exemplify Justice Ginsburg.” Ms. Bosman’s exemplary legal advocacy embodies those qualities. Ms. Bosman’s legal practice focuses on civil rights and constitutional law, including complex civil litigation, often representing plaintiffs in cases that challenge discriminatory practices. Throughout her career, Ms. Bosman has achieved significant victories, including holding law enforcement agencies accountable for discriminatory practices, securing children’s rights, and advancing equal opportunity for women and minorities in their careers. These victories are a testament to her dedication and the impact she has made in our communities and state. In 1997, she founded The Children’s Rights Initiative, Inc., a non-profit organization affiliated with the Legal Services Corporation that helps children choose their own counsel.
Ms. Bosman has lived in upstate New York her entire life and earned her J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law. She was the first New York attorney to earn her L.L.M. in Trial Advocacy (with honors) at Beasley College of Law, Temple University, in 1998.
